Are You Hearing Impaired???

Have you ever wondered why after leaving a party you hear a ringing noise in your ear? This is because of tinnitus; tinnitus causes the ringing of the ear in order to adjust back to the normal volume level. If this continues to occur it will eventually lead to noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL). NIHL can be caused by the playing of loud music close to your ear, or even by the television being too loud. Sadly this is only a minor hearing impairment; some people are in fact born with not preventable hearing loss.
Wikipedia defines Hearing Impaired as a condition wherein the ability to detect certain frequencies of sound are completely or partially impaired. When applied to humans, the term hearing impaired is rejected by the majority of deaf people where the terms deaf and hard-of-hearing are preferred. Some people are born death but yet others gradually lose their hearing. Other factors might include ageing, as we age more of us will probably develop some type of disability. However some people may lose their hearing after they have learned some type of language. In the mid 90’s, 8.8 million people, age six and over, had a hard time seeing. However 10.1 million People had difficulty hearing.
Many people who are born death learn (ASL) American Sign Language as their first language. Although sign language is universal, there are many other ways in which a hearing impaired person can communicate. A machine with a keyboard is often used for the disabled to type what they want to say, and a little computer will read it out loud. Communication is an issue when it comes to lip reading. Lip reading can be used but sometimes people do not speak clearly. Many people with a hearing disability rely on the hearing aid. The hearing aid has become so advanced, now hearing aids can be implanted and connected to the ear.
I simply cannot imagine what it would feel like to not hear well or at all. People with any type of disability must be strong people, because they work twice as hard as we do to communicate everyday.

Why Do I Want To Be A Teacher?

Why do I want to become a teacher? Good question. I know I would be a great influence on my students because I have been raised to be such a wonderful influence on my friend and family. I want to become a teacher because I know in my heart I love kids and I love to teach. I use to play teacher with my little brother when we were in middle school and I was always the teacher. I know this is what I want to do for a living. Not just teach anything though I want to teach math. In math there is not always one answer to a problem, which is a great life example, because there is not just one solution to every problem. I want to teach my students to take life seriously but also to have fun. I would love to be a teacher because I know I am a visual learner and I will have all sorts of interactive learning activities in my classroom. My classroom will be a friendly learning environment for my students. A place the student will look forward to coming to each and every day. I know my students will just have a blast when attending my class. I also know I will have a blast because I just love the smile on a student’s face when they learn something new and actually get it. I know I will make a great teacher because in my past I was taught by some of the greatest teachers, in my opinion. I just love the enthusiasm and spunk my teacher had when she walked into the room every morning. I know when I become a teacher I will do my best to help every student understand what I’m teaching, even if it may take them a little while longer than the other students. I want to be a teacher because I am willing to use any extra time out of my day to go out the way and help a student in need. I know in my heart teaching will be a great profession for me because I will do anything and everything for a student in need or not in need. When I was a student in know my teachers would help me because they showed me that they were there for me, to help me. And that’s what I want my students to know. I want them to know that I am there for them if they need me or not. I love kids and I know why I want to become a teacher.

Waiting For Superman

Waiting for Superman, shows how American schooling is failing as a whole. All through the film, the director and co-writer, has been following the educational ambitions of five children, four of whom are enrolled in public school and one in a parochial school the youngest in kindergarten, the oldest in the eighth grade in urban areas across the country.. Most of them messed up at school or had to drop out to get a job, and now they are determined to see their kids stick it through. “Nakia, a single mother in Harlem who has taken pay cuts in her job as a receptionist, says of her daughter, a six-year-old named Bianca, “I don’t care what I have to do. I don’t care how many jobs I have to obtain. But she will go to college.” “As Nakia and the other parents see it, getting their kids into college depends on first getting them into a charter school,” Stated by ABC news.
I felt like this film was a real eye opener to those who are educators and future educators, because a lot of people are clueless to what is really going on in the world. My parents did not tell me anything, all I knew was that I was getting a good education. Personality I can see the rate of learning dropping. Kids are dropping out at an earlier age and/or start doing drugs. I agree, something must and needs to be done. Education of our young ones cannot just go to waste.

The Classrooms of Today

Twenty-First century classrooms are much different from classrooms back then. Classrooms in the 21st century are much more advance in the use of technology. Teachers now permit the use of computers and videos to help better the student’s way of learning. Some schools are fortunate enough to provide a computer to each and every student in the classroom. The technology now is so advanced that the teacher can block the Internet as a whole and only have educational thing on each computer. As you may know, every student has a different way of learning and it is the teachers’ job to know how to use all the different ways of learning.
Looking around the classroom bright colors line the walls and pictures of math problems and funny quotes line the room, in the twenty-first century classroom. Pictures of math pirates or pictures of people helping one another or maybe even a picture of a kid just raising his hand. Classrooms today will also have encouraging word posted on the wall to help encourage the students to keep reading. Words such as keep going, you can do it, and don't give up. Also found in a twenty-first century classroom you will find advanced toys for learning. The toys now are equipped with better vocabulary and have a wider age range option for kids. The toys found in the toy box will often have to do with the ABC's or shapes. Everything toy in the room is something that will help the child learn, even if its just colors. Every now and then a new classroom will have a white erase board instead of a chalkboard. Also a classroom will contain better snacks for those kids who are allergic to certain types of food.
In a twenty-first century classroom you will also find that the teachers
now start to teach the core classes to an early age. The students start to learn math, reading, and writing at an earlier age. The teacher in the classroom walks into the room with a birght huge smile on her face as she greets the class. The teacher is full of energy and is always ready to teach. In the twenty-first century classroom the teacher is the same as they were back then, and if not even better. Teachers today are much more into getting the information out to the students, that is needed. Now and days the students are learning information that we learned in a later grade, so that when they get into middle school and high school they know a little more.
